Thompson’s Residential Treatment Center (Thompson’s RTC) was established to provide children with knowledge and life skills necessary to thrive in today’s society. Adults and parents are given the responsibility to provide children with a warm, fostering, and safe environment. Unfortunately, many of our youth become victims of their own circumstances and are denied life’s basic opportunities. Our home will create a family-like atmosphere for boys (ages 10-17) that have been abused and neglected. Our highly trained staff will provide 24-hour care and supervision to each child on an individual basis while utilizing a proven and structured curriculum.
A residential treatment center is a residential child-care operation for 13 or more children or young adults that exclusively provides treatment services for children with emotional disorders.
The children accepted into the home will be those placed in the care of Child Protective Services and will come from anywhere within the state of Texas.
Thompsons RTC has partnered with Lone Oak I.S.D. to provide residents a private educational facility at the College Street campus. Professional educators will use their expertise in education to provide a tailored curriculum based on individual and collective needs. Students also have the opportunity to progress and attend classes on the main campus.
No. All children will be under 24-hour supervision by direct care staff. No child will ever be left unattended, day or night.
The boys who will be staying in our home will require special attention, therapeutic training and an opportunity to begin their healing process. They have endured physical, emotional, and in some cases, mental abuse. Oftentimes, children have a difficult time dealing with the complexity of emotions that can frequently accompany these horrific experiences. Our ultimate goal at Thompson’s RTC is to assist each child with the improvement of their emotional health and well being, while also helping them acquire the skills necessary to lead a productive life.
